A Perfect Tiny Home For A Woman And Her Dogs

This week, we meet an inspiring Dutch woman who has built a charming and beautiful for her and her three dogs in New Zealand. Every now and then you find a home which has been perfectly crafted to meet someones needs and this is one of those places. Matilda’s on wheels is wonderfully constructed using mainly reclaimed materials and is filled with wonderful artwork and creative flair.

This is a home which may be tiny, but has a big heart! From the lovely reclaimed rimu timber to all the artwork and native bird features throughout, this is a place which is designed to really make Matilda feel at home. Many of her friends have contributed lovely works of art to add to her home, including a beautiful koru and kōwhai stained glass window which fills the home with colour and light.

Everything in this home has been designed to ensure that both Matilda and her dogs are comfortable. Matilda even has a second, matching, super tiny house which she and her dogs use as a camper when they away traveling or at dog agility shows, giving her the perfect set-up to match her lifestyle.

I hope you enjoy the full video tour of this lovely tiny house!

  3. I LOVE this tiny home!! I LOVE that it is built around Matilda & her fur babies!! No extra room for sleep overs, no nothing more than what makes her happy!! This is a lovely Tiny built home!!
    Birds painted on turkey feathers…INCREDIBLE!!!😄

  4. Its sooo freeing to live in tiny houses…..Its the same feeling with everyone…they all seem so elated, so free, so creative, so utterly happy. Really inspiring stuff! What a wonderful, wonderful movement!

  5. Very cute house. And the best part is it didn’t cost her a fortune. It is actually affordable for a single person like me. I love that she has an actual nice size living room that isn’t just a couch stuffed in a corner & called a living room. The fact she didn’t waste space on a table of any kind helped a lot in utilizing her living space so much better.
I’ve been in my apartment for 3 years. In those 3 years I’ve never once, not one time, have I ever sat & ate at the dining room table that was give to me when I moved in. Its wasted furniture for someone like me, single & alone. But it was free so I took it.
I really like this house. Great video

  6. Love the art displayed in this house. It’s a wonderful eclectic mix of colors and speaks of her love of friends and nature. Well done! 💕

  7. This lady is so sweet! She really reminds me of my own grandmother, with the Dutch accent as added bonus (I am dutch). It’s a truely lovely home, and I only wish one day I could have a home I feel so comfortable in as Mathilde obviously does in hers.

  8. “we don’t need to live in a big house” says a single lady and her dog… for the rest of us with families and farms that is a different story…

  9. « Warmth » ? To me this interior is REALLY cold… but we are all different, and I am happy she is living in a place she loves! ✨🧡

  10. I completely agree with her on hating everything being white. Seems like that’s what everyone likes now. I love rustic, and old world decor.
