Teen tiny house builder Austin Hay finishes dorm on wheels

We first visited Austin Hay after he just completed his sophomore year of school and had developed just the shell of his (based on donated by Jay Shafer, now of Four Lights Tiny House Company). Now, Austin is in his senior year of highschool and he has finally finished his home, together with a full kitchen, DIY -bed, almost full-sized and composting (doorknobs and to come).

We stopped in at his open house where his house was full of a dozen friends (at any one time). His mom weighs in on the of tiny houses (his highschool and different regional colleges have asked for Austin's guidance in constructing their very own versions), his girlfriend answered our questions on living in something tiny in the future and his grandfather playing Santa Claus to assist Austin finish his tiny dorm on wheels.

* Austin's open house was recorded by Johnny Sanphillippo (from our video clip “Mortgage-free tiny home on a housekeeper's salary”) and John and Emily Dirksen (my mother and father who happen to live close by).
